Revised May 2002
INTRODUCTION:
Welcome to the
Putnam County Children’s Theatre (PCCT).
The PCCT was created as a way to encourage interest in the arts in
Putnam County. The first production
took place in the summer of 1993 and interest has continued to grow each
year.
In addition to a
yearly production, the group also participates in community activities
throughout the year, such as singing at local nursing homes, marching in
parades, and attending local plays and productions to encourage an appreciation
of the arts in our world. It is a
learning experience for all children entering grade 4 and up, and gives each
child an opportunity to share their talents with their community.
The PCCT is an amateur, non-profit organization which relies on volunteers and donations from individuals and businesses. Fundraising is a large part of the success of the group. If you are aware of a corporation willing to contribute you are encouraged to contact a board member.
The organization
is covered by a liability insurance policy to cover accidents which may occur
during practice or performances.
WHAT
OCCURS AT AUDITIONS:
When your child
auditions, they will sing, read a short dialogue, and possibly be taught a few
dance steps to perform.
HOW
IS IT DETERMINED WHO GETS A PART:
A panel of
judges which consists of various people who have expertise in the arts will make
the decision which child best fits each part.
If your child
does not get a cast part in the play they will be invited to participate in
another capacity, such as stage crew, lighting, set design, publicity, usher,
costumes, etc…
WHEN
DO WE FIND OUT WHO WILL BE IN THE PLAY:
Judges decision
will be made the night of the last audition and the results will be posted at
OGHS and on the PCCT web page (http://superpcct.com/). DO NOT call OGHS or any of the other
schools regarding the
results!
ATTENDANCE:
Each
participant will be given a list of the practice dates and times for the
production. Some individual
practices may be scheduled as needed for specific participants.
Regular attendance of all cast members is crucial to the success of the show. However, we do realize that families vacation in the summer, and emergencies occur. A play participant is permitted to miss 2 practices and it is requested that the director be notified in advance of the absence. If a member misses more than the 2 allowed, their role may be given to another individual, and this decision is made by the director. Emergency situations will be handled individually.
COSTUMES:
It is the
responsibility of the child and their family to obtain a costume once the
costume coordinator has given you the list of items needed. We will assist you in obtaining unusual
costumes and accessories if you have difficulty finding them. Final approval of the costume will be
made by the costume coordinator.
RULES
and REGULATIONS:
1. Each cast member must bring
a pencil, notebook, and script to each practice.
2. No food is allowed in
practices, but beverages may be brought in if covered.
3. Rehearsal is closed to the
public, including family members.
Permission can be granted by the director for unusual circumstances.
4. If a parent must stay while

play would be appreciated as there is always something that needs to be
done.
5. Participants are to arrive
on time as practice will begin promptly at designated time.
6. Conduct. Each person is expected to show respect
to the director and other cast members.
